Avoid Aerosol Formation
Avoid aerosol formation during centrifugation by using aerosol-tight rotors or buckets!
It is an experimental fact that aerosols are produced upon centrifugation using Eppendorf tubes or Falcon tubes. The reason is that liquid at the caps is pressed out of the tube as the plastic is deformed. That's why we find a dirt ring even in "clean" centrifuges:

Aerosol tightness is only guaranteed by rubber seals
on caps, buckets or rotors:
Avoid contamination by using biosafety cabinets (laminar flow benches) where appropriate.
